Dear Woman

You are beautiful
No matter the colour of your skin
You are unlimited
Even by your background or kin

You are stronger
Than every challenge you face
You are greater
Than the boundaries of your race

No matter your history or experience
No matter your mistakes or their consequence
No matter the pattern of your stretch mark
Nor how the wrinkles on your face park

You radiate with beauty from deep within
Your riches exceed those of Sheba's queen
Your wisdom distinguishes you from the crowd
Your humility is a constant lesson to the proud

You're a mother of nations
with a blessed and fruitful womb
You're a leader in industries
You excel in all you do

You take what is given and multiply
You invest your goodness and beautify
You are a rare gem, a diamond uncut
You are a wonder, success is your lot

In every situation and circumstance
Through every trial, maintain your dance
Tap into the strength and greatness within
At the end of the road, you will surely win

This is for You!

For all those who have loved and lost
For those whose love was not returned

For those who gave their hearts away
For those who couldn't make them stay

If your loved one left to the world beyond
Leaving you broken, unhappy and stunned

If your lover took off without a word
or cleaved to another when he got bored

Perhaps you're together and yet so sad
Not alone, yet lonely, it's gotten that bad

Perhaps you've been hurt and also abused
Their words and actions left you so bruised

You may have no one to call your own
No one to love you or take you home

You may see others in love and then wish
That your love life will someday flourish

Rise up and break up with despair
Make up your mind to no longer go there

You are precious, amazing and so loved
By your friends, family and God above

Learn to love yourself even when you don't feel it
Learn to hold on to your joy even when you don't see it

I'm blowing these kisses to you to encourage you today
You are adored and treasured; more than words can say

20 Years of God's Faithfulness

Poetry Reading at HCC Women of Purpose Conference 01/05/17**

When I think about God's goodness
And His faithfulness over the years
I am struck with awe & gratitude
For redeeming me from all my fears

Oh Yes I arise to acknowledge His goodness
For 20 years and more
Thanking Him for His love & faithfulness
His name I will adore

When the storms of life raged
And almost consumed me
His words stopped the waves
And calmed the roaring sea

Oh Yes I arise to acknowledge His goodness
For 20 years and more
Thanking Him for His love & faithfulness
His name I will adore

What a mighty God we serve
Such a gracious God he is
Giving us more than we deserve
In spite of all, we remain His

Oh Yes we arise to acknowledge His goodness
For 20 years and more
Thanking Him for His love & faithfulness
His name we will adore

He watches over us day and night
He never slumbers or sleeps
He protects us from all evil
Our enemies fall into the deep

Oh Yes we arise to acknowledge His goodness
For 20 years and more
Thanking Him for His love & faithfulness
His name we will adore

Who has seen the righteous forsaken?
Or their children beg for bread?
God does not discard our supplications
He gives us more instead

Oh Yes we arise to acknowledge His goodness
For 20 years and more
Thanking Him for His love & faithfulness
His name we will adore

When men's voices rose in accusation
And they asked where is our God?
He arose in His awesome power
And silenced them like a flood

Oh Yes we arise to acknowledge His goodness
For 20 years and more
Thanking Him for His love & faithfulness
His name we will adore

Through every trial and temptation
Our assurance remains kept
Through every test and tribulation
He's our ever present help

Oh Yes we arise to acknowledge His goodness
For 20 years and more
Thanking Him for His love & faithfulness
His name we will adore

We will tell of your goodness
We will sing of your salvation
We will bow before your throne
In humble adoration

Oh Yes we arise to acknowledge Your goodness
For 20 years and more
Thanking You for Your love & faithfulness
Your name we will adore

Thank You Lord for loving us
Even when we don't know
Thank you Lord for keeping us
Even when we've gone low

Oh Yes we arise to acknowledge Your goodness
For 20 years and more
Thanking You for Your love & faithfulness
Your name we will adore

We have gathered here today
Women of honour arising
Our lives will show forth Your goodness
As we reach a new horizon

Oh Yes we arise to acknowledge Your goodness
For 20 years and more
Thanking You for Your love & faithfulness
Your name we will adore

Glorious Woman

God took his time to think of you
And saw the need and plan for you
He made you much more specially too
Glorious woman

Though the enemy tried to displace you
And frustrate God’s beautiful plan for you
God’s Glorious grace in Jesus came through
Glorious Woman

In God’s divine plan you played an active part
You gave birth to kings & raised them from the start
Even when you were despised, rejected& torn apart
Glorious woman

A heart so precious, it glitters more than gold
Your words so rich, laced with wisdom untold
Hands so strong, they do not grow weary or old
Glorious woman

Your altar of prayer burns and never goes dim
The chances of your failure are forever slim
With Jesus on your side and the Spirit within
Glorious woman

You organise your home and get things done
Make sure your clothes sparkle and are not outworn
Your children too shine bright even as the sun
Glorious woman

A voice to the nations, a messenger of peace
Still a champion at home, your dedication does not cease
A will that endures all hardships and doth ever increase
Glorious woman

You are influential, outstanding, a woman of worth
You take territories over; rid them of evil sorts
Fulfilling purpose in all areas; dominion’s your lot
Glorious woman

On your account, a lost people are saved
By your words and prayers, troubled hearts are stayed
Your compassion reaches out to help the swayed
Glorious woman

God’s love for you forever endures
You are celebrated today and forevermore
A treasure to all, you remain ever sure
Glorious Woman

MY DOMINION STORY

Photo: sosn.org

I am standing here today
With a story to tell
The manner by which I got here
I know it too well

I wasn’t always like this
I never believed in myself
I gave up very easily
And always cowered in my shelf

I was deceived into believing
That I wasn’t in control
I let my circumstances dictate
What I do and how far I go

But as time went on, I began to realise
Who I was really made to be
No longer bound by the chains that held me
Indeed I have been set free

Freedom to do what, you may ask
Freedom, I answer, to bear fruits that will last
No longer being dominated by men who abuse me
But rising up with courage to walk in dominion and authority

I speak into existence
Things that weren’t there before
I loose in heaven and earth an abundance
That is too large to store

I raise godly seed that are arrows
In God’s powerful hands
Indeed, I and my entire family
We are for signs and wonders

No longer shall we be deceived
By the lying serpent
No longer shall we walk in ignorance
Or as fear’s servants

We are fruitful, we multiply
And subdue all the earth
We are influential and prosperous
With unbeatable strength

We are filled with words of wisdom
And act as consultants for kings
We are the head and never tail
Yes, the best in everything

We are rulers and teachers
Lawyers and preachers
We are doctors and nurses
Accountants, the greatest bosses

In all that we do
We influence and add value
Proclaiming God’s favour
In every way and each avenue

With all this experience of dominion
We remember to remain humble
As worthy vessels for the master’s use
This way, we’ll never stumble

You too can walk this walk of dominion with me
And live the life that God intended
As you do so, may God’s grace carry you
Until the last day when we are perfected

A New Day Has Come!

A new day has come
A new season under the sun
Opportunities abounding
In measures outstanding

A call is being made
To all who wish to be great
Basking in wealth, grace and favour
Surrounded by peace, promotion and splendour

To those who wish their territories enlarged
To those who want their spirits recharged
To those needing increase and multiplication
To those seeking fame and world domination

You must arise and shine
As your path and reasoning are illuminated
Working hard, developing yourself
To ensure you attain as predicted

Be the best you can be, even better
Do all that is in your heart, be clever
Follow your dreams, surpass your goals
Enlarge your tent, fasten its poles

The time is what you make of it
Whether in rising or falling
Your path can be evergreen
If you ensure that you key in

Let any past success or failure
Remain as it is - past
Make new successes today
That will bloom and last

You will escape the traps of the wicked
Where there is evil you will not be
Your very eyes shall be enlightened
As you attain your awesome destiny

Heed the call being made today
Run with it while it is still day
Before the night comes to say
Goodbye to the day and turns you away.

THE WOMAN'S SONG

I am a WoMAN

An epitome of excellence

Foremost of God’s design

Wonderfully and beautifully made

Not rushed but carefully brought forth

I am a WoMAN

A man with a womb

I am not an afterthought of God

For I was created with you

But later formed, when my time was come

I am a WoMAN

I can do all things

Through Christ my enabler

I refuse to be put down

By society’s unfounded beliefs

I must fulfil my purpose and dreams

I am a WoMAN

Your help meet in purpose

I am not to be sidelined or dominated

But acknowledged as your partner in destiny

As we attain our goals side by side

I am a WoMAN

Not an object of lust

I deserved to be respected

Not reduced to a sex-slave void of values

For there is more to me than the eyes can see

I am a WoMAN

I have a voice

A voice which should not be suppressed

But groomed to blossom

Not ignored, but harkened to

I am a WoMAN

I have emotions

I deserve to be loved and pampered

To be cared for and protected

To be loved no less

I am a WoMAN

I have a purpose

I need to be spurred on to achieve it

To be encouraged and mentored

To be supported on my journey

I am a WoMAN

I have been basked with strength

Along with many responsibilities

To my Maker, my family and the earth

I must balance it all and succeed

I am a WoMAN

I will stand by you

Inspite of your inadequacies

But if you fail to play your part continuously

I may lose my zeal to stay

I am a WoMAN

I need to be loved

And I will submit willingly

I need all these things

To continually be the best I should be

Not wavering, not wanting to give up

I am a WoMAN

I am a Blessing

I am the Blessed!

Our Everyday Struggle

The Sun has risen,
The day begun,
I start out as usual,
Bible read, worship sung.

I dedicate my day to You,
Hoping that today, I can be true,
Pure in heart, speech and deeds,
Without deviating from your decrees.

But as I go through the day,
I experience many things that soon lead me astray,
I try to overlook them and not be perturbed,
Yet afterwards, I am left feeling disturbed.

Troubled by unwanted thoughts and desires,
And the strength I believed I had soon expires.

While fighting these away,
Some gossips soon come my way,
My efforts to be uninvolved are to no avail,
As my big dripping mouth, I soon unveil.

After an entertaining chat, I move onward,
An unruly chap makes his way forward,
Raining down accusations and abuse,
And soon the bolt on my anger comes loose.

Unwilling to ignore, I soon retaliate,
His countenance change, almost immediate.

Happy I stood up for myself; I go on with my day,
And at the end of it, I bow my head to pray,
But I am reminded of how much I failed thee,
And how with my all, I disobeyed your decrees.

In my heart and actions and with my mouth,
I defied your name aloud.

I cry, for I am far from what you desire,
To be a pleasant and obedient child is what I aspire.

Lord, help me because I now realise,
That I can do nothing on my own,
But by your mercy and your grace,
I can come forth as gold.

All that I have is not mine,
Help me always to recognise that they are thine.

I will do your bidding,
I will make you proud,
Your name will I keep praising,
All the year round.

I dedicate my heart, lips and deeds to you,
That every moment of my life I may please you,
Help me to hold on to what is true,
That this everyday struggle is already won by you.

And at the end of life’s road,
May you welcome me proudly into your magnificent abode.

Words of Emotion

When I look back
To the days of my youth
I see your face
Which was with me all through

Never for once
Did u leave me in my struggle
Every day and night
You were beside me
When I needed help with my school work
You were with me
When I needed help with my intellectuals
You never left me

But death soon snatched you away
So soon, too soon
Too soon to say goodbye
Too soon, I can't help but cry

And then when i needed help with my school work
I was alone
When I needed to be talked to
I was alone still
No more stories and tales were told
Stories of the recent past or of old

And so, we tried our best
To bury you the best way it seemed fit
We went through all that we could
To give you the edifying burial you deserved

But you were already gone
You had left to the world beyond
You had left to be with God on high
You had left without saying goodbye
All that was left was your withering body
From dust you came, to dust you returned

Your grave lies at the cemetery
Sometimes, I’m there to speak to you
About all that troubles me
Believing that you can somehow hear me

But of what use is speaking to your bones?
Of what use is speaking to a grave?

Your spirit is with the Lord
But you father are in my heart
So I know these words you can hear
I know my pains, you can feel
And I know you speak to me
I hear you, I hear you say
"Hush my little one, don't cry
Because I never left your side
And with you I will always be
Till me meet 'face en face' to part no more"

Now I can smile
For I have heard those words
Which you still speak to me
I smile at the thought
That I will be reunited with you one day

I will make sure
I get to where you are
Up above in paradise
Oh father, precious father,
Wait for me, wait for me!

A LETTER TO MY SAVIOUR

Grace Redefined,
Mercy Street,
Lagos.

My Lord God & Master,
Throne Room,
Heaven Headquarters.

Dear Lord,

WORDS FROM MY HEART

I Know I’ve been empty for so long. I know I was once on the right track but I lost my way. I gave in to the desires of my flesh, in search of something I had all along.

My desire for love and affection led me to make the wrongest mistakes- things that eat me up inside each time I remember them; one sin leading to another all in a bid to cover up. I put on a plastic face each time I was in a gathering of ‘perfect people’ or ‘church people’, I should call them. Everyone thought I was perfect, everyone except me, those who led me on and you.

I thought I was never going to be able to come out, I thought I was never going to be able to make amends. I thought I was going to keep on crying myself to sleep. I was constantly tortured of how I had made nothing of my values; and of course, let myself and you down as well.

So I kept on with my empty life; like a drifter, moving from one place to another, void of any feelings whatsoever. My life was empty and so may grounds in it lay fallow. I had lost all hope until. . .

You saved me! When I least expected it, you came for me and brought me out of the miry clay. You cleansed me and put your garment of purity on me. You taught me how I ought to live. You told me the changes I had to make. You said “Sow for yourself in righteousness, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek me until I come and shower righteousness on you”

So I said goodbye to my old life, the way I used to live, the people I used to live it with. It was hard; I thought I couldn’t make it without them. But you O lord had thought me that all the love and attention I needed lay with you.

I made changes in my life, every area I had left to be run by the devil, I handed over to you. I meditated on your word and spent quality time with you, receiving insight each time on how I was to live my life. My old life was gone; my new life begun. I became a vessel unto your honour and an instrument of your peace. And in return, you gave me more blessings than I could imagine. You filled my mouth with singing and my heart with joy. You used me as an instrument to bless others as well.

Oh God my Saviour, I’m so lucky to have you. My life was once empty lying fallow, but you came and made it evergreen.

Thank you for your love. Thank you for care. Help me to keep my life ever-green, the sowing constant, the reaping timely and the harvest continuous. Let the rain of your righteousness keep falling on me, that I may be acceptable in your sight.

Till I write to you again, keep being you and help me be better than I am.

P.s. I love you lots!

. . . Your child

Ode to IMNUB (February 15th 1983- September 6th 2009)

Sometimes I wonder why certain things happen
I try long and hard, but I cannot quite get the reason
Some people desire better, deserve better and are wished better
But instead they get less or even nothing
Like an early grave, a brutal death
They could have only wished for a bright future
The fulfilment of their greatest dreams
But how can they fulfil any of them from an early grave?

When u lose someone you care about
It’s hard for you to let go
You cry and blame God everyday
And just quite understand why he,
Who has all the powers over the heavens and the earth,
Couldn’t just take a quarter of a second,
Just a little effort to save him/ her?

But the ways of God are not to be questioned or even understood
For he will have mercy on who he will have mercy
And compassion on whom he will show compassion

One thing am I sure of now,
Life is temporal
One minute you’re here, and the next minute you’re gone
I have to ensure that my life has meaning,
If not I’ll be full of regrets when I’m gone

The pleasures we desire on earth are all useless
We should all be storing up our treasures in heaven;
Instead of fighting and scheming for those on earth,
Our only thought should be on securing a first-class visa to the City of God
Where he has massive mansions for all who would accept him and do his will

I for one want to live for this God, be used and directed by him;
So that one day, I may enter into the perfect rest he has made available for me

Will you?

I’m sure you have a friend pleading with you to drop all the crap you’re into and follow Christ,
But your constant reply is “God and I are cool; don’t worry, I’ll do that later, not now”
How do you know there’s a later? Or when it is?
For some people, it’s in their sleep, others in the bath tub/ shower, when they are walking on the road, driving, in a bus, or on that bike?
For some its stray bullets; for others it’s a simple sickness like a headache that takes away

How do you know, when your later will be?

Don’t keep for later, what you can get done today
Allow Christ in, to dine and remain with you
Surrender your all to him
And let him rule your world. . .
It’s a decision you’ll never regret

Step1: acknowledge that you’re a sinner and confess your sins to God
Step 2: State that you believe Jesus died for your sins on the cross and offers you eternal life
Step 3: Accept Jesus as your personal lord and Saviour, invite him in, and let him cleanse you of all he considers filth within you
Step 4: Maintain a constant prayer/worship& praise life and never forsake the fellowship of brethren- attend a bible-believing church, pay your tithes. . .
The Holy Spirit will reveal the rest to you!
God bless you!

Whenever our time comes, we must be ready to move on
So why don’t you start asking God to show you what he will have you do?
So you don’t leave this earth without doing any

Lord I pray that you reveal your will and desires to me that I may fulfil them (Amen)

Life is solitary, brutish and short . . . Thomas Hobbes
C’est la vie!
Make the best of it . . .

And so Olubunmi Gboyega Onanubi, you will be greatly missed and cherished . . .
May your gentle soul rest in perfect peace
Even if it was taken from you by force!

Loads of love. . .

Lola
