The Weekend Bite™ Part 2, March 2017

Hello Friends, Welcome to Spring! Do you smell the beautiful flowers blooming once again? I love spring because of everything it represents. There's something about the way it spurs the mind as it creates an atmosphere of life. Our word this weekend on The Weekend Bite™ is #Becoming.

Becoming simply means the process of evolving into something or someone. We all have dreams and visions of who we want to become and what we want to achieve.

As the above definition suggests that there is a process involved in achieving this. In between our dreams and our desired end, are the processes of time, preparation, development, diligence and striving; all of which come under the grand process of becoming.

Time is the duration or period within which the process of becoming is completed. This time is subjective; peculiar to the individual involved and their particular situation. Someone may complete their becoming process within a short time, while others may adopt similar strategies and yet take a longer time. That is why we should avoid comparing ourselves with people who have similar dreams to ours. It is good to learn tricks and strategies from them but never let someone else's speed make you look down on yourself. Instead, concentrate on pushing yourself to become who you want to be.

Preparation refers to the process of drawing up plans and strategies towards becoming. This preparation is important as it directs our actions and ensures that we are on track to fulfilling our dreams. Actively engaging yourself in this stage will take you further to the process of development. Development implies accessing the right information, training and exposure to improve your knowledge, expertise, and experience in your chosen field which is crucial to fulfilling your dreams.

As we develop ourselves through knowledge gathering and training, we begin to put what we have learnt into practice. This requires diligence and hard work. No matter where you find yourself in your period of training, development or work, your diligence will distinguish you from others and open more doors for you. This may take you up the ladder of your becoming, further and quicker than others.

As we maintain diligence in our work and practice, there will be situations when we become discouraged by unwanted occurrences or delays. We may be overlooked, ignored, disappointed or betrayed. We may fail even when we try our best. No matter the unfortunate circumstance, it is important to keep striving towards your goal.

When the going gets tough, the tough keep striving. Never give up or settle for less. Keep striving until your becoming is complete.

I wish you utmost success as you become all that you were made to be!

Cheers!

The Weekend Bite™ Part 1, March 2017

Hello friends, welcome to March. Spring is closer than ever. Our focus in this episode of The Weekend Bite™ is #strivingforthedream

"Striving" is the act of making focused and strong efforts to achieve a goal or dream. It requires pushing ourselves to become what we want to be, despite the challenges we face, the hurdles on the way or the disappointments we experience.

We all have dreams that we want to achieve within a set time frame. We may start off vibrant and with incredible zeal but begin to lose it all when we start experiencing setbacks. Are you in a situation that has made you lose your zeal and drive to keep chasing your dreams? It may be because of delays or disappointments. These have the ability to make us doubt our goals and question the possibility of ever attaining them. We may end up giving up so early or settling for less when there is still something much better out there for us.

The message this weekend is to keep striving for the dream. Even if no one believes you can achieve it, keep striving. Even if you feel disadvantaged for some reason, perhaps because of your background; strive even harder. Keep your eyes fixed on your dream and keep working hard until you get to where you want to be.

There may be certain strategic steps you need to take to get there. These are means to get to your desired end. Think of them as steps on a ladder you climb to get to the top. For example, you may start a job where you work long hours but are exposed to the experience you need to succeed in your field. Such positions are temporary and shouldn't last forever. You should be able to identify another role or place that would take you even closer to your dream until you get to where you want to be. At the same time, let your life have some balance. Have some time to rest and catch your breath along the way so you don't burn out. It's one thing to get to the top but another to stay there. You need to be well and strong enough to maintain the height so keep yourself and your life recharged.

As we march forward this month, let's do it with strength vitality and dedication. You can fulfill your dreams if you keep striving in every circumstance. You can do all things!

Cheers!
